Starting in the fall of 2027, the University of Vermont (UVM) is introducing an expanded Regional Tuition Break program that significantly lowers tuition costs for incoming undergraduate students from neighboring New England states.Key Highlights of the Announcement:
- The Discount: Qualifying students will receive a tuition reduction of more than 35% off the standard out-of-state tuition ratesaving more than $18,000 per year. This brings their estimated annual tuition down to approximately $30,240.
- Eligible States: Permanent residents of five New England states: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island.
- Eligible Students: Incoming first-time first-year students and transfer students enrolling for the fall 2027 semester and beyond.
- Participating Majors: The discount applies to 31 select majors (nearly one-third of all undergraduate majors at UVM). It covers every major within three specific schools:
- The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS)
- The College of Education and Social Services (CESS)
- The Rubenstein School of Environment and Natural Resources (RSENR)
- Requirements: Students must declare a primary major in one of the eligible programs and remain enrolled in that major to maintain the discount.
- Financial Aid: The tuition break is incorporated into the student’s overall financial aid package and does not disqualify students from receiving additional scholarships or need-based aid.
