This news update covers the 2026 U.S. Open men’s singles semifinal clash between top seed Alexander Zverev and Karen Khachanov at Arthur Ashe Stadium.Match Overview and Start Time
- Event: U.S. Open Men’s Singles Semifinal
- Venue: Arthur Ashe Stadium, USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, New York
- Scheduled Start: Friday, September 11, 2026, at approximately 3:00 PM local time (EDT).
- Alexander Zverev (No. 1 Seed): After surviving grueling five-set marathons in each of the opening two rounds, Zverev found his rhythm, sweeping his subsequent opponents in straight sets. He secured his place in the semifinals with a commanding 6-2, 7-5, 6-1 quarterfinal victory over Botic van de Zandschulp. With this run, Zverev reached the semifinals of all four Grand Slam tournaments in 2026.
- Karen Khachanov: Entering the tournament unseeded, Khachanov advanced to his third career Grand Slam semifinal after No. 28 seed Alexander Blockx was forced to retire due to multiple injuries in the third set of their quarterfinal (with Khachanov leading 6-2, 7-5, 3-2).
- Zverev leads their career head-to-head record (6-3), highlighted by their high-profile clash at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics final where Zverev won the gold medal.
- Zverev relies on his dominant first serve and backhand baseline defense, while Khachanov looks to attack with heavy forehands and control baseline rallies.
- The winner earns a place in the U.S. Open final to face either Ben Shelton or Frances Tiafoe.
