A major water main break in Toronto’s east end left more than 100 residents without running water for over two days. CBCThe incident was first reported early Wednesday morning near the intersection of Coxwell Avenue and Gerrard Street East. It cut off service to roughly 35 homes and a residential building in the area. No injuries were reported, but the disruption caused significant frustration among residents, some of whom went days without basic necessities like showers. CBCAccording to city officials, the broken water main dates back to 1911. Repairs became complicated and extended longer than anticipated due to other underground utilities and concerns regarding fuel (gas and diesel) mixing with the water in the ground. As repair crews worked continuously on site, eastbound lanes on Gerrard Street East were restricted, and the city arranged bottled water deliveries to affected households while service was being restored.
