During an appearance on The Colin Cowherd Podcast, sports commentator Colin Cowherd shared his perspective on Caitlin Clark’s rise, stating that she has “Michael Jordan’s ascension, Stephen Curry’s game, and Larry Bird’s personality.”Indiana Fever teammate Sophie Cunningham weighed in on the comparison, generally agreeing with Clark’s extraordinary rise and skill set, but dismissing the idea that Clark shares Larry Bird’s personality:

• Separated by “Sass”: Cunningham pointed out that Larry Bird had considerably more swagger, edge, and on-court trash-talking “sass.” In contrast, she explained that Clark has her own distinct personality.
• Low-Key Off the Court: Cunningham described Clark off the court as remarkably simple and grounded. Rather than carrying the sharp bravado associated with Bird, Clark is strictly focused on basketball, enjoys relaxing at home, watching TV, and keeping a low profile.
• Giving Clark Her “Flowers”: Cunningham used the platform to defend her teammate against skeptics, expressing frustration that people are still reluctant to credit Clark for her transformative impact. She highlighted how Clark’s presence has driven record viewership, attendance, and commercial growth across the WNBA, calling her arrival a blessing for women’s basketball.
