A domestic shorthair kitten named Bungee is recovering after surviving a nearly 55-foot plunge from an I-275 overpass in St. Petersburg, Florida.During an attempted rescue after he was found stranded on the overpass, the kitten jumped and fell dozens of feet. He was taken directly to Pinellas Animal Services for medical examination.Remarkably, veterinarians found that Bungee had no broken bones, fractures, or internal bleeding despite the extreme height of the fall. He did sustain significant soft-tissue trauma to his jaw and chin, which veterinarians repaired surgically using a button to secure the sutures.Estimated to be around 2.5 months old, Bungee is currently recovering and was placed with a local foster home to continue healing and learn how to socialize around people, as he had little prior human contact. Once fully recovered and acclimated, he is expected to be put up for adoption.
