(Lacey) What is the story behind this trend in Social Media today?

Shea Lacey is a 19-year-old English footballer who has come through the Manchester United academy. On Wednesday he was given his first senior start in a League Cup tie against Brighton at Old Trafford. Just eight minutes into the match he cut inside and scored a sharp near-post finish to give United the lead. After the goal he ran to the badge on his shirt and kissed it. The celebration landed especially strongly because it came a day after reports that another highly rated United youngster had asked to leave the club. Supporters immediately contrasted Lacey’s visible loyalty and first-team contribution with that story. Clips of the goal and the badge kiss spread quickly across social platforms, with fans calling it a statement of belonging and a reminder of what the academy is meant to produce. Lacey became the first United teenager to score on a full debut since Marcus Rashford a decade earlier, adding extra weight to the moment.
