According to the Fox News report, Macklemore announced that he is donating the $1 million he earned from opening for Ed Sheeran’s U.S. “Loop Tour” to organizations providing humanitarian aid to Palestinians following his removal from the tour lineup.

Key details from the report include:

• Reason for Removal: Macklemore was dropped from the tour after making statements calling for a “Free Palestine” and performing his song “Hind’s Hall” during his opening sets at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

• Involvement of Stadium Owners: Macklemore alleged that New England Patriots and Gillette Stadium owner Robert Kraft pressured Sheeran by threatening that Sheeran would not be permitted to perform at Gillette Stadium, while also encouraging other venue operators to issue similar ultimatums. Kraft confirmed he opposed Macklemore performing at Gillette Stadium, citing what he characterized as a history of antisemitic rhetoric.

• Ed Sheeran’s Response: Sheeran stated that the decision to remove Macklemore was made by tour promoters and stadium venue operators rather than by him personally, noting that he had tried to resolve the issue before venues refused to host the set.

• The Donation: Macklemore announced on Instagram that his entire $1 million earnings from the tour would go to organizations providing relief and aid, including the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund (PCRF), HEAL Palestine, Gaza Soup Kitchen, Medical Aid for Palestinians, and UNRWA USA, among others. He also publicly challenged Robert Kraft to match the donation, though Kraft noted Sheeran had already approached him regarding matching separate charitable contributions.
