In this exclusive interview with Us Weekly, actor Ryan Paevey discusses his decision to step away from Hollywood for a two-year hiatus and what led to his recent return:

• Mental Health and Industry Pressure: Paevey shared that working in the entertainment industry was taking a heavy psychological toll, citing constant rejection, loss of privacy, and mounting stress. Before stepping away, he found himself increasingly unhappy, depressed, and shut inside his Los Angeles apartment, describing his lifestyle at the time as reclusive and unhealthy.

• Family Health Crisis: His decision to step back in spring 2024 coincided with his mother being diagnosed with cancer, which prompted him to re-evaluate his life and priorities.

• Making a Major Change: To achieve a complete “palate cleanse,” Paevey relocated from Los Angeles to San Diego to live close to his mother. During his time off, he focused on outdoor exercise, tended to his garden (jokingly referring to himself as “the neighborhood hobbit”), and concentrated on running his jewelry business.

• Return to Acting: Feeling refreshed and in a much better headspace, Paevey is returning to the screen with two Great American Media holiday films, including The Ornament Library.
