Residents at the Adamsville Green Senior Apartments, located along Martin Luther King Jr. Drive SW in southwest Atlanta, have raised serious concerns over poor living conditions, broken infrastructure, and safety issues.
Key details from the report include:
Broken Main Elevator: The building’s primary service elevatorthe only one that services all four floorshas been out of commission for over a year. While a secondary elevator functions, it only goes up to the third floor. This leaves residents on the fourth floor, many of whom rely on canes, walkers, and wheelchairs, struggling to use the stairs or essentially trapped.
Facility and Sanitary Conditions: Tenants reported foul odors of urine and feces in the carpeted hallways.
Security Issues: Residents cited non-functioning security cameras, a broken front entry gate, and unauthorized, unhoused individuals sleeping in the hallways overnight.
Management Response: Property management acknowledged the elevator outage and stated that after realizing the existing system could not operate reliably, they took it out of service and ordered a full replacement. Installation of the new elevator system was scheduled to begin on Monday, September 21. Management did not provide a completion timeline or outline specific plans to fix the gate and hallway security issues.
