Circle S: Second Chance Ranch is a family-owned rescue facility located on 33 acres in Sicklerville, South Jersey, run by Kevin and Hilary Schultz. Originally knowing nothing about horses or owning large acreage, the couple began by rescuing a single horse, which quickly expanded into a mission to save and care for numerous animals.
Many of the horses at the ranch have been pulled directly out of auctions or saved from slaughter, including a horse named Rescue, who was pulled just 15 minutes before being loaded onto a slaughter truck. Alongside horses, the sanctuary is home to other farm animals like goats and pigs.
To support their mission, the couple established a nonprofit organization called the Second Chance Ranch Foundation. The ranch is open to the community through events, school field trips, and volunteer opportunities, and it features a dedicated program designed to help veterans and first responders dealing with PTSD and anxiety.
