South Korean President Lee Jae-myung firmly ruled out any combat troop or military asset deployments to the Strait of Hormuz that would draw South Korea into a war or conflict. Speaking at a televised press conference, he emphasized that Seoul will maintain its strict principle of noninvolvement and will not place South Korean service members under foreign military command.

At the same time, President Lee noted that South Korea still has a responsibility to protect its citizens, merchant vessels, and vital crude oil shipping lanes. To accomplish this without engaging in combat, the government is reviewing options to strengthen the operations of the Cheonghae naval unit, which is already deployed in the region to safeguard national interests and secure energy transport routes.
