A registered sex offender named Jaiden Orion Segundo, 26, was arrested by Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputies on September 16 on six felony counts of sexual conduct with a minor.

According to court documents, Segundo targeted a 17-year-old girl who had run away from a Peoria group home. In late March, he picked her up near a Phoenix Walmart under the guise of offering her a ride to a pawn shop to sell her backpack. Once she entered his truck, he locked the doors, refused to let her leave, and drove her to his trailer home in Buckeye. He held her captive there and repeatedly assaulted her over a period of time.

Medical records and a subsequent examination revealed injuries consistent with being restrained and choked, including contusions on her neck and lacerations on her forearm. The victim later identified Segundo after finding paperwork bearing his name inside the trailer while he was at work.

When questioned by detectives, Segundo initially denied knowing the victim, but later admitted to having sexual contact with her while claiming he did not know her age. Investigators noted that he also confessed to having recurring urges to target vulnerable and homeless women on the street. Segundo was already on probation for a previous child sex conviction and had a prior record involving a minor. He was ordered held on a $500,000 bond following his initial court appearance.
