Military Escalation in the South
Israeli artillery shelling targeted southern Lebanese towns, notably Mansouri and Majdal Zoun, with blasts heard as far as Tyre.
Israeli military vehicles advanced from Tiri toward the outskirts of Hadatha and Haris in the Bint Jbeil district.
Lebanese official reports indicate that ongoing strikes and military operations have resulted in over 4,380 deaths and more than 12,400 injuries since early March.
Ceasefire & Diplomatic Strain
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun warned that fulfilling the US-brokered framework agreement reached in Junewhich outlines an Israeli troop withdrawal and the deployment of the Lebanese Armyis being severely undermined by continued strikes and border violations.
Peacekeeping & Security Vacuum Concerns
Following statements earlier in the week, Lebanese leadership continues to push for an international or European-backed force to deploy temporarily alongside the Lebanese Army to prevent a security vacuum in the south ahead of the conclusion of the UN peacekeeping mandate at year-end.
