Arrest Claim: The Congress party claimed that Milan Pradhan, its candidate for the Nandigram assembly bypoll in West Bengal, was arrested.
Timing: The alleged arrest occurred only hours after Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo and former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee publicly announced support for him in the by-election.
Congress Response: Congress spokesperson Mita Chakraborty strongly criticized the move, accusing the ruling authorities of intimidation, denying democratic space to the opposition, and behaving autocratically.
