This article is a live match blog from The London Standard covering the Premier League west London derby between Brentford and Chelsea at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Key details from the report include:

• Pre-match context: Chelsea entered the fixture looking to break a winless streak in the league, following a defeat to Arsenal and a draw against Hull. The Gtech Community Stadium has historically been a difficult venue for the Blues, who had not won there since 2021. Meanwhile, Brentford came into the match undefeated in the campaign, having drawn three of their opening four matches after beating Tottenham on the opening weekend.

• Team & lineup notes: Chelsea faced attacking absences, including Joao Pedro who withdrew during international duty due to a suspected injury.

• Early match action: The live updates describe a tightly contested, low-chance opening half-hour with the score remaining 0-0. Both sides struggled to capitalize on set-pieces, with key moments including a blocked Keane Lewis-Potter shot for Brentford and a Chelsea free-kick from Morgan Rogers that was comfortably saved by Caoimhin Kelleher. The crowd and coaching staff were also vocal regarding several refereeing decisions around fouls involving Cole Palmer, Mikkel Damsgaard, and Vitaly Janelt.
