The news covers the 41st annual Science Education Enrichment Day (S.E.E.D.) STEM Festival, held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the University of South Carolina Aiken (USC Aiken).

Hosted by the Ruth Patrick Science Education Center in partnership with the Aiken County Public School District, the festival is a free, family-oriented community event designed to make science, technology, engineering, and mathematics accessible and exciting for local children and families across the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA).

Key highlights of the event include:

  • Hands-On Exhibits: Over 70 interactive booths and exhibits covering fields such as robotics, nuclear science, biodiversity, chemistry, aerodynamics, and astronomy.

  • Interactive Demonstrations: Children get opportunities to engage directly with STEM concepts, such as operating championship robots, experiencing virtual space exploration, exploring the biology of honeybees, and interacting with live animals like alligators.

  • Community & Industry Engagement: Demonstrations and presentations feature scientists, engineers, and first responders from regional institutions, including the Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL), Aiken County EMS, and USC Aiken academic departments.

  • Educational Mission: The festival’s primary goal is to spark curiosity, inspire youth to consider future careers in STEM fields, and demonstrate the real-world impact of science and technology in everyday life.
