SpaceX launched a Falcon 9 rocket carrying a classified mission, designated USSF-259, for the United States Space Force from Space Launch Complex 4 East at Vandenberg Space Force Base in California. The launch took place during a scheduled window, and residents across nearby counties in the Central Coast region were advised that they might hear a sonic boom as the Falcon 9’s first-stage booster made its supersonic return to land on a droneship stationed in the Pacific Ocean.
