The Floriston Fire in Northern California is holding at 622 acres due to improved mapping, with a containment level of 15%.

Following days of closures near the Nevada state line, one westbound lane of Interstate 80 has partially reopened to traffic, though drivers are advised to expect delays, use caution, and watch out for emergency equipment and personnel remaining in the area. Wide loads continue to be restricted and turned around at the westbound Gold Ranch checkpoint.

The fire originally broke out near I-80 and Floriston Way, approximately nine miles northeast of Truckee, spreading rapidly through steep and rugged terrain during its initial hours and prompting multi-day highway closures and evacuation orders. Evacuation orders and warnings have since been lifted or downgraded as fire crews work to strengthen containment lines. The cause of the Floriston Fire remains under investigation.
