Top-ranked Texas defeated UTSA 30-6 to improve to 3-0, though quarterback Arch Manning had a mixed performance after a fast start. Manning gave the Longhorns an early spark by throwing two touchdown passes to wide receiver Cam Coleman in the first half, but he struggled for much of the game, finishing 17-of-33 for 164 passing yards while taking multiple hard hits.
The Texas defense excelled, holding UTSA to just 143 total yards and keeping the Roadrunners out of the end zone. Gianni Spetic added three field goals, and freshman Derrick Cooper rushed for his first career touchdown in the fourth quarter before Manning exited the game. The victory sets up a tougher challenge for the Longhorns as they prepare to open Southeastern Conference play next week with a matchup against No. 15 Tennessee in Knoxville.
