Latest news in Chad? September 20th, 2026

In September 2026, the key developments in Chad include heightened security and border tensions along the eastern frontier with Sudan. Following cross-border drone strikes and clashes that spilled over into Chadian territory, authorities have tightened military deployments, secured desert routes, and closed sections of the border. This border closure has significantly impacted humanitarian efforts, deepening the crisis for Sudanese refugees attempting to flee the ongoing conflict. Additionally, domestic developments have involved local administrative measures, such as the banning of a planned march by unemployed graduates in N’Djamena due to public order concerns, alongside ongoing regional diplomatic and logistical updates.
