Two people were killed in the Moscow region and the Moscow Oil Refinery was struck during one of the largest Ukrainian drone attacks on the Russian capital. The massive barrage coincided with the final day of Russia’s parliamentary elections, which Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin claimed the unprecedented attack was intended to disrupt.

According to regional authorities and officials, Russian air defenses intercepted a vast number of drones targeting the capital region, but several managed to reach their targets, including facilities at the oil refinery and residential areas. In the surrounding Moscow region, regional Governor Andrey Vorobyov confirmed that the strikes caused structural damage to homes across multiple municipalities and forced the evacuation of hundreds of residents from a multi-story apartment building due to a fire.
