According to monitoring agencies including the USGS and the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), the tremor occurred at an intermediate depth of around 104 to 114 kilometers, with the epicenter located in the Eastern New Guinea region roughly 50 kilometers north-northeast of Kainantu. Due to the depth of the event, no tsunami warnings were issued, and there have been no immediate reports of significant casualties or widespread structural damage.
