The Charlotte-Mecklenburg School Board voted 5 to 4 to terminate Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) Superintendent Dr. Crystal Hill during a board meeting.

The motion to terminate her was brought forth by board member Dr. Charlitta Hatch. Under the terms of the firing for convenience, Hill is set to be paid $340,770 over the course of a year.

This decision follows months of ongoing controversy surrounding the school board, which previously involved suspending Hill, launching an investigation, and then reinstating her in August. Additionally, the shake-up coincided with leadership changes on the board, including Stephanie Sneed stepping down from her role as board chair.
