Official Confirmation: Palace Press Officer Claire Castro confirmed that President Marcos signed the postponement measure into law, which came just three days prior to the scheduled filing of the Certificates of Candidacy (COC).
New Election Date: The BSKE, previously scheduled for November 2, 2026, has been moved to the second Monday of November 2028.
Extended Term of Office: The term of office for elected Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan officials has been extended to five years.
Future Election Cycle: Subsequent barangay and youth council elections will now be conducted every five years following the 2028 polls.
