The University of Arizona suspended the Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity following severe hazing allegations involving incoming members.

According to university findings, the incidents stemmed from the fall semester, during which new recruits were reportedly subjected to verbal abuse, intimidation, and coerced into drinking large amounts of alcohol as well as consuming live goldfish.

Because the behavior breached several student code of conduct policies, including campus rules against hazing and endangering student well-being, the university placed the chapter on an activities suspension. Under the sanctions, the fraternity is barred from organizing or participating in Greek life events while the investigation continues, and members were ordered to avoid contact with the affected individuals as leadership meets with university officials.
