The annual Alligator Festival returned to St. Charles Parish at the Westbank Bridge Park in Luling, Louisiana, organized by the Rotary Club of St. Charles Parish.
Key Highlights of the Event:
Purpose and Scholarship Impact: The festival serves as the primary fundraiser for the Rotary Club of St. Charles Parish Scholarship Foundation. Proceeds fund academic and vocational scholarships for graduating seniors at Destrehan High School and Hahnville High School, as well as local community service and literacy projects. Since the club awarded its initial $250 scholarship in 1980, it has distributed more than $1 million in scholarships, providing over $50,000 annually and making it the parish’s largest private scholarship provider.
Attractions and Entertainment: The four-day, family-friendly event draws between 20,000 and 25,000 visitors. It features carnival rides, craft and artisan booths, live music, and educational live alligator exhibits with professional handlers.
Food Offerings: The festival is known for an extensive lineup of alligator dishes, including fried alligator, alligator sauce piquant, alligator sausage, alligator pastalaya, and alligator burgers, alongside classic festival and Cajun food favorites.
