The murder trial of former American Idol contestant and church worship leader Caleb Flynn centers heavily on his extramarital affair and an alleged staged home invasion. Prosecutors argue that Flynn was motivated by his relationship with his former mistress, Alleigha Botner, to fatally shoot his wife, Ashley Flynn, and make the crime scene look like a burglary. While Flynn’s defense acknowledges the affair and the text messages sent between Flynn and Botner, they argue that the prosecution lacks essential physical evidence, such as the murder weapon, to prove a crime was committed.
