(E・M・T) What is the story behind this trend in Social Media today?
26-09-2026
The phrase (E・M・T) is spreading today because of a promotional campaign for a new collaboration between the mobile game Monster Strike and the anime/light novel series Re:Zero. The letters stand for a long-running fan nickname for the character Emilia: Emilia-tan Maji Tenshi, which roughly means “Emilia-tan is truly an angel.” Fans have used the shorthand for years as an affectionate way to praise her.The game’s official campaign account posted that the collaboration would begin the next day and invited people to quote the announcement while adding either their thoughts on the collab or the phrase (E・M・T). Doing so entered participants in a lottery for prizes. Because the phrase is already familiar to Re:Zero fans and the campaign made it an official requirement for entry, thousands of people began repeating it in quotes and replies, turning it into the day’s visible trend.
