An adult woman was hospitalized with an apparent gunshot wound following an incident outside the Bass Pro Shops in Mesa, Arizona, near Dobson Road and Rio Salado Parkway (or Bass Pro Drive).

According to the Mesa Police Department, officers responded to the location’s parking lot following reports of multiple shots fired. Investigators determined that the shooting was an isolated incident stemming from a private gun sale that went wrong.

Authorities took individuals, including a male and a female, into custody in connection with the incident, and a teenager was later reported arrested in the case. Police used the event to remind the public to conduct private firearm transactions safely, ideally utilizing a federally licensed firearms dealer or a secure designated exchange location.
