Virat Kohli is trending across social media today because of a standout performance in the first One Day International between India and West Indies, played in Thiruvananthapuram. Batting in a chase of 296, he remained unbeaten on 139 from just 88 balls, striking 10 fours and 9 sixes. He brought up his century with a six and formed a dominant partnership with Shubman Gill, who also scored a hundred. India completed the chase comfortably in 41.4 overs and won by eight wickets.During the innings Kohli also became only the second batter in history, after Sachin Tendulkar, to reach 15,000 ODI runs, and he did so in the fewest innings. The knock was his 55th century in ODIs and his 86th international hundred overall. The combination of a high-quality, attacking century in a successful chase, a major career milestone, and his continued form at 37 years of age has driven the widespread discussion and celebration among cricket fans. Recent comments from Kohli that the 2027 World Cup will be his last for India have added extra context to the conversation around his current performances.
