South Carolina Gamecocks head coach Shane Beamer announced that defensive end Dylan Stewart has been placed on an indefinite suspension from the football team.
Key details of the report include:
The Triggering Incident: During the fourth quarter of South Carolina’s loss to Alabama, Stewart was penalized for unnecessary roughness after striking Alabama tight end Josh Ford in the helmet following a play.
Sideline Reactions: Beyond the punch itself, tensions escalated on the sideline. Stewart showed visible frustration toward the coaching staff, resisted substitution, and was seen walking away while coach Beamer was attempting to address him.
Coach Beamer’s Stance: Addressing the media, Beamer explained that while emotional scuffles occasionally happen in heated games, Stewart’s suspension was triggered by his cumulative behavior and a failure to meet team standards of accountability and respect.
Immediate Outlook: Stewart will not play in the upcoming game against Kentucky. His long-term status and whether he will return to the roster will be evaluated internally over the coming days.
