A Marion County woman was arrested and charged with two counts of animal neglect resulting in death after decomposing pets were found. Authorities investigated the residence following complaints about a strong foul odor and excessive bugs coming from the apartment. The animals were recovered and subjected to autopsies performed by the Animal Health Center of Knoxville, which determined the causes of death to be malnourishment and abandonment. An arrest warrant was subsequently issued.
