A Beaver Area School District board member, Luke Berardelli, faced heavy backlash and calls to step down following a controversial social media post that critics condemned as sexist and anti-Islamic. The post included remarks telling women to cover their bodies and shut their mouths, and that they could not do anything without a man’s permission. In response to the backlash, Berardelli defended his statements by claiming he was using sarcasm and hyperbole to make a point about extremism.
