In Tamil Nadu’s Ramanathapuram district, a 35-year-old woman head constable named Kannagi died after being pushed to the ground while trying to break up a clash.

The incident took place at the Paramakudi Government Hospital. Two rival groups of youthswho had sustained injuries in a previous brawlarrived at the hospital for treatment late at night, where they started fighting again on the hospital premises.

Kannagi, who was on duty at the location, intervened to stop the fight. During the intervention, a youth identified as Karuppu Raja forcefully pushed her. She fell backward and suffered critical head injuries. Though she was rushed for medical attention, she succumbed to her injuries. Senior police officials, including the Ramanathapuram District Superintendent of Police, visited the hospital to conduct an inquiry, and search efforts were launched for the accused who fled the scene.
