An Assam Rifles soldier was killed in action and four others were injured after their patrol team was attacked by insurgents in Arunachal Pradesh’s Changlang district, near the Myanmar border.
The attack took place at 6:30 AM while soldiers of the 21 Assam Rifles were patrolling an area where border-fencing work was underway. The fallen soldier has been identified as 42-year-old Havildar Jankhokai Kuki, while the injured personnel are receiving medical treatment at a military hospital.
Initial reports indicate that the attack was likely carried out by insurgents belonging to the NSCN (K-YA) faction. Security forces have launched a search and counter-insurgency operation in the area to neutralize the attackers.
