Former world snooker champion Graeme Dott has been sentenced to seven years in prison after being convicted of historical child sex offences.

The 49-year-old was found guilty of lewd, indecent, and libidinous behaviour targeting two primary school-aged childrena girl and a boyin offenses that spanned across two periods between 1993 and 2010. During the trial, the court heard how Dott leveraged his position and used coercion and manipulation to ensure the victims stayed quiet.

Sentencing him at the High Court in Edinburgh, the judge condemned Dott’s actions as a “gross violation of trust”. Following his conviction and imprisonment, Dott was permanently suspended from the sport, and his name was removed from the World Snooker Hall of Fame.
