(Super Intelligence) What is the story behind this trend in Social Media today?

The phrase Super Intelligence is trending because the U.S. president has spent the past week trying to replace the term Artificial Intelligence in official language. He argued that the word artificial makes the technology sound fake or inauthentic, and that a stronger name would better match how impressive he believes it is. Over several days he ran public polls offering alternatives such as Superior Intelligence, Extreme Intelligence, and Supreme Intelligence. After the first options were narrowed and a later choice of Super Intelligence was added, that version won the final vote.He then announced the change at the United Nations General Assembly, saying U.S. government documents should now use Super Intelligence or the abbreviation SI. The announcement was followed by further discussion after meetings with other world leaders and by reports of an executive order directing federal agencies to adopt the new wording. The term already had a different, more specific meaning in technical circles: a future system that would greatly exceed human capability across almost every domain. That mismatch, plus the sudden official push to use the phrase for current AI, produced a wave of commentary, jokes, memes, and debate about whether the rebrand will last or change anything of substance.
