(West) What is the story behind this trend in Social Media today?

The Japanese idol group WEST. is ending its activities as a unit today. The seven-member act debuted in 2014 and spent more than a decade performing together. Two members announced their departure from the group at the end of August. The remaining five then held talks with their agency about whether to continue with a reduced lineup. After considering each person’s planned individual path, they concluded that the group itself should stop. All seven members stay with the same agency and will now work separately as talents. Fans have spent the day sharing memories of the group’s twelve-year run and offering support for the members’ next steps.
