The incident involved three suspicious vans spotted heading toward the base during the early hours of Sunday morning, blocking a village road with masked individuals seen nearby. Five British men in their 20s were arrested on suspicion of preparing a terrorist act and explosives offenses. Bomb disposal units and police cordoned off the area and evacuated dozens of nearby homes as a precaution.

While investigators later confirmed that no viable explosives were found inside the vehicles, a quantity of petrol was recovered. The suspects were subsequently released on bail while counter-terrorism investigations continue. UK counter-terrorism authorities are actively investigating whether the individuals were operating as proxies working on behalf of a foreign hostile state.
