In the early hours of Thursday, a well-planned, “Bollywood-style” burglary took place at a luxury watch showroom on the busy Tonk Road in Jaipur.
Here are the key details of the incident:
Target and Loss: The break-in targeted ‘The Watch Factory’, an official Rado showroom. Approximately 251 luxury watches valued at an estimated Rs 3 crore were stolen.
The Method: Around 4:30 AM, the burglars arrived and hung up a curtain outside the storefront to shield their actions from passersby. Working behind this makeshift screen, members of the gang used iron rods to pry open the main shutter while vehicles continued to pass along the road.
Coordinated Roles: CCTV footage revealed clear division of labor among the group. While some members breached the shutter, an accomplice stood guard outside to monitor traffic and surroundings.
The Heist: Once the shutter was forced open, two intruders entered the showroom, swiftly swept luxury watches from the display cases into bags, and fled the scene within minutes.
Investigation: Jaipur police are analyzing CCTV footage to map out the suspects’ entry and exit routes, identify vehicles used, and determine if prior reconnaissance was conducted. Investigators are also probing whether the notorious Ghodasan gang was involved in the operation.
