Ray Kerr is trending primarily due to his surprise role as the starting opener for the Atlanta Braves in a decisive, high-stakes MLB Postseason Wild Card matchup against the Philadelphia Phillies.
After missing the entire 2025 season recovering from Tommy John surgery and only returning to the majors late in the season, the left-handed reliever was tapped by Atlanta to open the elimination playoff game specifically to neutralize Philadelphia’s heavy left-handed sluggers, drawing significant attention from baseball fans and sports media.
