In the book, Douglas revealed that the two had a secret, genuine romantic relationship while filming Romancing the Stone in the 1980s, admitting that their decades-long public claim that they were “just flirting and nothing happened” was a lie intended to protect his then-wife, Diandra, and their young son. Douglas noted that he asked Turner for permission before including the admission, bringing renewed public interest to their iconic 40-year Hollywood friendship and history.
