Routine lizard handling turns into an unexpected swimming break, tell me about this news today

The story centers on a wildlife handler or reptile keeper whose standard, day-to-day handling routine with a large lizard took a sudden, comical turn when the animal bolted straight for a nearby body of watertypically a backyard pool, pond, or facility tankforcing an unplanned plunge.

During routine health checks, enclosure cleaning, or relocation, semi-aquatic monitor lizards (such as Asian water monitors) often seize any chance to reach deep water, their natural escape habitat. In this instance, the lizard made a sudden dash, dove into the water, and left the handler with no choice but to dive or wade in fully clothed to retrieve it safely. Both the handler and the reptile emerged completely unharmed, though thoroughly soaked, turning an ordinary chore into an amusing viral moment.
