(くりまんじゅう先輩) The story behind this trend in Social Media today
03-10-2026
くりまんじゅう先輩 is the fan nickname for Kurimanju, a supporting character in Nagano’s manga and anime series Chiikawa (ちいかわ なんか小さくてかわいいやつ). The character looks like a round brown chestnut manju bun, stays mostly expressionless and quiet, and is known for calmly enjoying food and alcohol. In the story’s world, drinking requires an official “alcohol qualification,” which Kurimanju has earned. After a sip, the character often lets out a satisfied sigh written as “ハーッ…,” a moment that fans treat as a symbol of small everyday pleasure.Fans started calling the character “senpai” (senior) because it is portrayed as more experienced than the main cast. Kurimanju has already done work such as weeding jobs, knows the practical side of the world’s odd rules, and sometimes quietly looks after otherssharing snacks, correcting pranks, or giving advice. The nickname stuck especially around the relationship with Shisa (シーサー), whom Kurimanju has helped while Shisa studied for the drinking license. The name is trending today because a new manga update arrived. In the recent chapters, Shisa had been shown in distress over a forged drinking license, feeling guilty and deciding to return it. Readers described the sequence as heavy. The latest post, signaled by a simple beer image that fans immediately recognize as Kurimanju’s signature, shows the character appearing at that moment. Reactions treat the entrance as a relief: the calm, alcohol-loving senior who already knows Shisa’s study struggles has finally shown up, and many posts say the scene restores a sense of hope after several difficult updates. The broader appeal is that Kurimanju embodies an adult who has cleared the story’s bureaucratic hurdles and then simply sits down to eat and drink well. Merchandise, nendoroids with beer and hangover faces, and fan art around the “ハーッ” sigh have kept the character visible for years; today’s spike is specifically the manga appearance amid Shisa’s license storyline.
