Larry and Shawna Masters finished in second place with a 2,220-pound entry, while Joe Jutras of North Scituate, Rhode Island, took third place with a 2,197-pound specimen.

The Topsfield weigh-off, which began in 1984, holds historic weight in the giant-pumpkin circuit as the venue where the world’s first one-ton (2,009-pound) pumpkin was officially weighed by Ron Wallace in 2012. The winning entries remain on display on the fairgrounds for visitors throughout the fair’s run through October 12.
