A massive fire broke out on Sunday afternoon at a tyre retreading and oil extraction factory in the Naushehra area (near Urmura Kirar village) of Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh.

Key details reported from the incident:

  • Time and Rapid Spread: The blaze started around 2:30 PM. Due to the presence of large quantities of rubber, tyres, and flammable materials, the fire spread rapidly, sending flames 30 to 40 feet high and generating thick black smoke visible from up to 5 kilometers away.

  • Evacuations and Safety: Workers inside managed to escape in time, and local authorities barricaded the vicinity and evacuated nearby residences as the smoke caused breathing discomfort for local residents. No casualties have been reported.

  • Firefighting Operations: Multiple fire tenders and heavy machinery (such as backhoe loaders to separate unburnt tyre stacks) were dispatched to the site. Fire services utilized both water and foam sprays to suppress the flames.

  • Operational Challenges: Fire Officer Satendra Pandey reported that the factory’s internal water pump was destroyed by the fire, creating localized water supply constraints and requiring fire tenders to shuttle back and forth to refill tanks.

  • Investigation: Authorities noted that another fire had occurred at this same facility earlier this year. A formal investigation into the exact cause of the fire will begin once cooling and damping operations are fully concluded.
