Sky News halted for breaking RAF Fairford bombshell, tell me about this news today

Sky News interrupted its live broadcast for a major breaking alert reporting that the United States has pulled its heavy bombers out of RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire.

This sudden redeployment follows a week of intense security scrutiny around the Gloucestershire airfield:

• Security incident: Late last month, British counter-terrorism police declared a major incident near RAF Fairford after intercepting three suspicious vans and arresting five men on suspicion of terror and explosive offences, prompting local evacuations.

• Foreign state scrutiny: UK officials noted indications of potential Iranian-linked targeting directed at the base, which had been actively facilitating US long-range bomber operations.

• The withdrawal: Citing force protection and shifting operational requirements in the wake of the threat, US defense officials ordered the bombers stationed at the facility to depart.
