Flight tracking data shows the aircraft executed a steep descent down to approximately 9,000 feet. In commercial aviation, a rapid, controlled descent below 10,000 feet is standard operating procedure when cabin depressurization occurs, allowing passengers and crew to breathe without supplemental oxygen.

Following the descent, the crew abandoned the transatlantic crossing, performed holding patterns to manage fuel weight for a safe landing, and diverted back toward London Heathrow.
