Cocuklar OkulundanOlmasın: The story behind this trend in Social Media today
05-10-2026
The phrase “Cocuklar OkulundanOlmasın” (meant as “Çocuklar okulundan olmasın,” roughly “children should not be kept from their school”) is a slogan in a coordinated social-media campaign running today alongside the tags “FurkanaSistematikZulüm” and “AlparslanHoca AilesineZulüm.”It comes from supporters of Alparslan Kuytul, founder of the Furkan Vakfı / Furkan movement, and his wife Semra Kuytul. In mid-to-late August 2026, Adana prosecutors ordered an operation against the group. Kuytul, his wife, and dozens of others were detained; 35 people, including the couple, were later arrested. The stated charges include forming and leading a criminal organization, organization membership, laundering proceeds of crime, qualified fraud, forgery of official documents, and violations of tax law. The pair were sent to prison (reports place Kuytul in Adana’s Kürkçüler facility).Supporters describe the case and the conditions that followed as systematic pressure on the family. The specific complaint behind today’s slogan is about open-visit (açık görüş) days. Posts circulating with the slogan say children are traveling roughly 14 hours to reach the prison for visits, and that those visit days fall in a way that forces them to miss school. The repeated demand is that open-visit days be moved to the weekend so the children’s right to education is not used, in the campaign’s wording, as a form of punishment. The posts are largely repetitive copies of the same short message and tags, aimed at prison administration and the justice ministry. The campaign is therefore a prisoner-family visitation protest tied to the August Furkan arrests, not a general education or school-policy trend.
