DNA testing at the University of North Texas Center for Human Identification confirmed that human remains found along a creek bank belong to 47-year-old Rana Soluri, a Fort Worth-based flight attendant for Envoy Air.
HoodlineBackground and Disappearance Soluri was reported missing in June 2025 after friends and colleagues lost contact with her in mid-March 2025. During the investigation, detectives turned their attention to her roommate and longtime friend, Dennis Day.
HoodlineThe Investigation and Confession Investigators uncovered home surveillance footage from late March 2025 showing Day dragging what appeared to be a body into the backyard before disconnecting the security system. According to arrest records:
HoodlineDay admitted to investigators that he strangled Soluri on their kitchen floor after an argument in which she threatened to call the police.
HoodlineSoluri had reportedly been recording video when the altercation began, capturing footage of the attack.
HoodlineDay confessed that he placed her body into a trash bin and drove approximately 65 miles to an area near Bowie, Texas, where he dumped the remains over a bridge.
HoodlineAuthorities also identified an accomplice, Joanne Walters (also known as Joni Thomas), who was indicted on charges of tampering with evidence for allegedly helping Day dispose of the body. Day had allegedly boasted to fellow jail inmates that prosecutors could not convict him of murder without a body.

Discovery and DNA Confirmation Although detectives previously searched the general vicinity, muddy conditions had obscured the site. A fisherman later spotted skeletal remains along the bank of Brushy Creek in Montague County. Forensic anthropologists recovered the remains, and DNA analysis has now conclusively identified them as Soluri, formally closing the missing persons search as prosecutors proceed with murder charges against Day.
